Our Works

Our first-hand experience in the field has prompted us towards a deep commitment towards the conservation of rapidly depleting natural resources. We are focused on the following areas:

  • Scientific Studies aimed at building up a strong database of the flora and fauna of our area, which helps in conserving our rich biological heritage.

  • Activities aimed at conservation of ecologically importance and threatened spots

  • Awareness programs and camps to make one self conscious to the needs building ecological balance and the urgency of protecting nature

  • Providing help to organizations and educational institutions in conducting nature and wildlife awareness programs and camps.

Over the years, from a small gathering of few like minded individuals, we have grown to an organization that is widely respected for its expertise and contribution to the cause of conservation.

Trip Report - Manila

Some one-hundred kilometres from Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, via Marchula, is Manila (29º44.670’N – 079º11.847’E – Altitude 1797m). The place has a few private houses besides the KMVN Tourist Lodges, one new and one old (both KMVN tourist lodges have since been closed down). The old one is better situated and its room number four is recommended. We stayed in room four. It was in a corner, had good view and from its slip of a veranda we did bird watching when not exploring the place.

Gajoldoba, in North Bengal is a unique paradise for migratory birds. It is famous for the first reservoir formed by the Teesta Barrage which was built for an irrigational purpose. It is a beautiful quiet place, 37km from New jalpaiguri. It is a haven for birds and a great favourite among bird watchers.

Munnar and Karnataka

We – seven of us – went to Munnar, in October 2018, to see Neela Kurunji  Strobilanthes kunthianus (Phlebophyllum kunthianum)  flowering en masse after twelve years. Though we were late in reaching Munnar (Eravikulam National Park) there were still some flowers for us to see. Incidentally, we saw four Nilgiri Tahr Nilgiritragus hylocrius. We also went to Kulukkumalai where, we were given to understand, abundant Neela Kurunji would be seen.

Four Prakriti Samsad members and a guest set out for a trip to Ahiran Wetlands in Murshidabad district on 18th January, 2008. We headed to the spot from Sealdah by 111 up Lalgola Passenger which departed at 23.05 hours.
